Worm Farm Texas

Howdy, and welcome. If you're looking for live composting worms raised right here in Texas — not trucked in from three states away — you've found the right little homestead. We're Living Waters Homestead, a family-run worm farm out in Wise County, and we raise Red Wigglers and European Nightcrawlers for folks all across the great state of Texas.

Most of the big worm sellers you'll run across online ship out of Georgia or up north somewhere. Nothing wrong with those folks, but a worm's got a long, hot ride ahead of it coming all that way — and heat is the number one thing that'll do a shipment of worms in. When your worms start their journey in North Texas, they spend a whole lot less time riding around in a delivery truck before they land on your porch. Shorter trip, cooler worms, happier customer.

Worms for Every Corner of Texas

We ship to every town in the state, but we've put together a few pages for the areas we serve most, with growing tips tuned to your particular patch of Texas dirt:

Why Buy Your Worms Local?

A few good reasons, and we'll shoot straight with you on all of them:

They arrive in better shape. Live worms are living creatures, and travel is stressful on them the same as it is on any critter. The less time they spend boxed up in a hot truck, the healthier they show up. Being close by is the single biggest favor we can do your worms.

We know your dirt. Texas soil is a whole different animal than what the gardening books up north are written for. Our clay bakes hard as a brick in July, and our summers can cook a compost pile if you're not careful. When you buy from a fellow Texan, you get advice that actually fits the ground under your feet.

You're supporting a family, not a warehouse. Every order helps us build something real out here — a working homestead our kids are growing up on. We pack every box ourselves, and we stand behind every worm that leaves the place.

What We Raise

Red Wigglers (Eisenia fetida) are the gold standard for composting. They eat like they've got somewhere to be, multiply quickly in a well-tended bin, and turn your kitchen scraps into some of the richest castings you'll ever put in a garden. If you're starting a compost bin, this is your worm.

European Nightcrawlers (Eisenia hortensis) are the bigger, tougher cousin. They compost right alongside the Red Wigglers but handle our temperature swings a little better, which makes them a fine pick for outdoor beds. They also happen to make about the best fishing bait around, if you're the type to wet a line on a Saturday.

Not sure which one's right for you? Have a look at our composting worms — each listing walks you through it, and you're always welcome to reach out and ask.

How Shipping Works

We ship live worms Monday through Wednesday so they're never sitting in a distribution center over the weekend. Every order is covered by our live arrival guarantee — if your worms don't show up alive and well, we make it right. You can read the full details on our shipping policy page.

When the weather turns ugly — a hard freeze or a real scorcher — we'll sometimes hold an order a few days to keep the worms safe. We'd rather your worms arrive a little late and healthy than right on time and worse for the wear. That's just good stewardship, and it's how we'd want somebody to treat our worms.

Ready when you are. Come pick out some worms and let's get your soil working the way the good Lord intended.
