Worms in Fort Worth

Well howdy, Fort Worth. We're Living Waters Homestead, a family-run worm farm just a short drive northwest of you in Wise County — which makes us about as local as a worm farm gets for folks in Cowtown. We raise live Red Wigglers and European Nightcrawlers and get them to your door fast and healthy.

Fort Worth's a special case for us because we're practically in your backyard. A lot of worm sellers ship out of Georgia or up north, putting their worms through days of travel. Ours have a short, easy trip down to you — which is exactly how a live worm ought to travel.

Working Fort Worth's West-Side Soil

Fort Worth sits right on the edge where the blackland prairie meets the Cross Timbers, so depending on which part of town you garden in, you might be wrestling heavy clay, sandy loam, or that rocky limestone soil that the west side is known for. None of it is what you'd call easy to garden.

Worm castings are the great equalizer here. In tight clay, they help open up the structure so roots and water can move. In sandier or rockier ground that won't hold onto anything, castings add organic matter that helps the soil grip moisture and nutrients instead of letting it all wash straight through. Either way, you're feeding the soil biology that turns stubborn Texas ground into something a garden can actually thrive in.

Shipping That Respects the Heat

Being this close means your worms spend hardly any time in transit — a big deal come July and August when heat is the main thing that threatens a shipment. We ship Monday through Wednesday and hold orders when the weather gets extreme, because getting your worms to you alive matters more than getting them there in a hurry.

Getting Started

Red Wigglers are your workhorse composters — perfect for turning kitchen scraps into rich castings for your Fort Worth garden. European Nightcrawlers are a little heartier for outdoor beds, and they make fine bait if you're fishing the Trinity or heading out to Eagle Mountain Lake.

Everything's covered by our live arrival guarantee. Browse our composting worms to get started, and grab a worm bin and some supplies if you're setting up fresh.

Proud to be part of the wider Texas worm farm family, serving Fort Worth and the whole west side of the Metroplex.
