Pure Red Wiggler Worms (Eisenia fetida) — Live, Healthy, Ship-Ready

Red Wigglers are the gold standard of composting worms — and for good reason. These are 100% pure Eisenia fetida, with no mixed species, no fillers, and no compromises. If you've ever bought worms that didn't perform in your bin, species purity is likely why. Browse all composting worms to compare species.

Why Pure Matters

A lot of worm suppliers ship mixed-species blends or mislabeled stock. Pure Red Wigglers breed faster, process waste more efficiently, and produce richer castings than mixed lots. When you buy pure, you build a thriving colony — not a guessing game.

What Red Wigglers Do Best

  • Break down kitchen scraps, cardboard, paper, and organic waste into finished vermicompost
  • Reproduce quickly in a well-managed bin — your colony grows with your operation
  • Thrive in a wide temperature range (tolerant from 40°F to 90°F, optimal 55°F–77°F)
  • Produce nutrient-dense castings that improve soil structure and microbial activity

What You're Getting

Bed-run worms — a healthy mix of adults, juveniles, and cocoons — sourced from an established, high-volume worm farm. Packed carefully for live arrival and shipped Monday through Wednesday to minimize time in transit.

Available in 1/4 lb, 1 lb, and 2 lb quantities. Whether you're starting your first bin or scaling an existing operation, we have the size you need.

Not sure how many worms to order? A good rule of thumb: one pound of Red Wigglers can process roughly half a pound of food waste per day.

Feed your growing colony with Urban Worm Chow to accelerate growth and biomass. Need bedding and a thermometer too? The Worm Bin Starter Bundle has everything to get set up in one order.

Care & What to Expect

What to expect on arrival

Your worms travel in breathable cotton bags cushioned with carbon-rich bedding. They may look sluggish or clumped together when you first open the box — this is completely normal after transit. Give them a few hours in their new home and they'll perk right up.

Open and inspect your order immediately. If anything looks wrong, see our live-arrival guarantee for how to reach us within the 2-hour window.

Setting up their new home

Prepare moist (not soggy) bedding — shredded cardboard, coconut coir, or aged compost all work well. Gently place your worms on top and let them burrow down on their own. Keep the bedding damp like a wrung-out sponge.

  • Keep in a shaded, temperature-stable spot
  • Avoid direct sunlight and freezing temps
  • Start feeding lightly after a day or two
Feeding & ongoing care

Feed small amounts of fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and crushed eggshells. Bury food under the bedding to avoid odors and pests. Add more only once the previous feeding is mostly gone.

Avoid meat, dairy, oily foods, and large amounts of citrus. A healthy bin is nearly odorless and stays lightly moist.

Live-Arrival Guaranteed

Your Worms Arrive Alive — Guaranteed

We stand behind every shipment. Here's exactly how the guarantee works.

  1. 1

Your worms ship Monday–Wednesday and arrive with a USPS tracking scan marking final delivery.

  2. 2

If any worms arrive dead, take clear photo or video proof showing the worms, original packaging, and shipping label within 2 hours of the carrier's final "Delivered" scan.

  3. 3

Email us the proof — we'll review and ship a one-time replacement at no cost. No refunds are issued.

One replacement per order, no refunds. Claims submitted outside the 2-hour window, or where negligence (extreme temperature exposure, delayed pickup, improper storage) is evident, are not eligible.
